Instructor Stanton is a firefighter with Largo Fire Rescue in Florida. Dave has two daughters and he and his wife live in Wesley Chapel, Florida.


He has been on the job in Largo since 1997 and Dave currently serves as the Lead Drill Instructor for his department’s Honor Guard. Off duty, he is also a member of Florida’s State Response Team for Line of Duty Deaths. This team responds to departments across the state that request assistance with any aspect of planning a firefighter funeral and Dave has gained valuable experience in large event management.


Dave got his start in drill while attending high school. He was a member of the Color Team, Drill Team and Rifle Team and enjoyed much success during competitions. His Junior ROTC experiences lead him to five years of service in the U.S. Army before receiving an Honorable Discharge.


Dave’s compassion and dedication to the mission of the Honor Guard is evident in his meticulous attention to detail. Presentation and visual memories are the lasting impressions that he strives to perfect.
