Instructor Beechler is the Honor Guard Commander for the City of Fairfax (VA) Fire Department where she works as a Firemedic. She has been with the department since 2002 and has led the honor guard since 2007.

Amy is an academy graduate and has also hosted the class in her area. She has a background in EMS dating to 1994 and began her fire service career in 1997 while growing up in Buffalo. Her first fire experience was with the Twin District Volunteer Fire Department. She was a member of the department’s honor guard and Disaster Response Team.

Amy is active in the IAFF with Local 2702 and is a member of the Fairfax County CISM Team. Outside of her shift work, she also teaches National Registry and EMS classes at Northern Virginia Community College. In her spare time, Amy is the Civilian Coordinator for the 17th VA Infantry, Co. D “Fairfax Rifles”. She also serves as a soldier with the Company and is part of the Regimental Color Guard.

Amy has gained additional experience in large scale incident management while serving on the Command Staff of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Memorial Weekend since 2007.

Amy appreciates the need for networking and collaborative efforts of honor guards so she works with other teams in her region to assist with events and team development. Amy holds herself to very high standards and that attention to detail is a perfect fit for our academy presentation.
